“Muster on the Wabash commemorates then Indiana Territory Governor William Henry Harrison and his mustering or gathering of troops before the Battle of Tippecanoe,” Program Developer
Charles Mays said. “Harrison assembled an army of nearly 1,000 men at Fort Knox. They marched out of Vincennes on Sept. 26, 1811 and fought the battle of Tippecanoe on Nov. 7, 1811.”

Militia, U.S. infantry soldiers and Native American re-enactors will demonstrate what life was like in the early 1800’s in the Indiana Territory. Participants will interact with vendors selling period items as they watch demonstrations of pioneer crafts such as woodworking, blacksmithing and wool spinning take place. Participants will also enjoy popular activities from past years including the Patrol with Harrison’s Troops and a battle each day.

The two-day event will be on the site where Fort Knox II stood from 1803 through 1813. The fort location is outlined with short posts and interpretive markers that tell the story of the fort and the men who were stationed there.  The fort is located three miles north of Vincennes on Lower Fort Knox Road, next to Ouabache (pronounced
Wah-bash) Trails County Park.  Follow the directional markers beginning on Second Street.

The event is free. Parking is $5 per vehicle.
