Verdi (SP-979)
USS Verdi, a 75-foot section patrol boat, was built at Morris Heights, New York, as a civilian pleasure craft. She was acquired by the Navy at the end of June 1917 and later placed in commission for World War I service in the Great Lakes region. Verdi was returned to her owner in early December 1918, less than a month after the Armistice ended the fighting.
This page features our only views of USS Verdi (SP-979) and the civilian motor boat Verdi.
