Daughters of the Confederacy- Civil War Prisoner Exchange Re-enactment


The Rebecca Lloyd Tabb Chapter 107 United Daughters of the Confederacy in Gloucester VA are pleased to present a re-enactment of a Civil War Prisoner Exchange. The event will be on Friday Sept. 28th and Saturday 29th with activities located at the Historic Gloucester Courthouse Circle, Gloucester Museum of History, and First Presbyterian Church lawn.

On Friday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 pm bring the family out for the Family Lantern Walking Tour to meet the soldiers and gather around the campfire to hear their stories. Cookies and lemonade will be provided.

Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00 pm will be the Prisoner Exchange event. Starting at 10:00 am guests can tour the encampment that includes soldiers tents, medical tents, and tack horses. Meet roaming dignitaries like Robert E. Lee, Sally Tompkins and Judge Robert Ould.

At 11:00 am the Ladies Aid Society will be present at the Gloucester Museum of History. Then at 1:00 pm the featured Prisoner Exchange will take place at the Courthouse Circle.
