National Archives Marks Lincoln’s Birthday with The Gettysburg Story

Panel discussion with Jake Boritt, Stephen Lang and Gabor Boritt to follow screening
On Wednesday, February 12, at 7 PM, the National Archives celebrates President Lincoln’s birthday with a special screening of filmmaker Jake Boritt’s monumental work, The Gettysburg Story (2013, 60 min). A discussion with Jake Boritt, Stephen Lang, and Civil War scholar Gabor Boritt, and a book signing, will follow the program. This event is free and open to the public and will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Special Events Entrance, located on the National Mall at Constitution Ave. and 7th Street, NW.
The film is narrated by acclaimed actor Stephen Lang, best known as Colonel Quaritch in James Cameron’s Avatar, and known by Civil War buffs as "SLang" for his roles as General Pickett in Gettysburg and as Stonewall Jackson in Gods and Generals. The Gettysburg Story uses Aerial cinematography, motion-control time lapse, and 3-D animated maps to bring the stories of Lincoln, Lee, Meade and others to a new generation. The evening will also include a screening of The Wheatfield, a short film written and performed by Stephen Lang, which provides the poignantly stirring tale of the Battle of Gettysburg centered through the eyes of an aged Union Soldier. DVDs and Gettysburg audio tours will be available for purchase, as well.
