Licoln Funeral Train Commemoration

LINCOLN FUNERAL TRAIN COMMEMORATION AT B&O RAILROAD MUSEUM

Baltimore, MD - Museum officials announced today plans to commemorate
the 150th anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln's funeral train in
the B&O Railroad Museum's Roundhouse in Baltimore, Maryland on April
18-19, 2015. A weekend full of commemorative events are planned
including scheduled re-enactments of Lincoln's funeral cortege and
placing of the coffin in the center of the Museum's National Historic
Landmark Roundhouse. Visitors will be able to "view" the martyred
President in an authentic reproduction of his casket. Civil War soldier
and civilian re-enactors will participate in the solemn ceremonies and
researched authentic funeral music will be provided by the Federal City
Brass Band. The Museum's 1863 locomotive "Thatcher Perkins" will
accompany the ceremony and be decorated exactly like the Lincoln Funeral
Train. Each ceremony will be narrated by noted author and Guest Curator
Daniel Carroll Toomey. Times for the formal narrated commemoration are:

Visitors may view the casket, exhibits and interact with soldier and
civilian mourners throughout the day. The Museum's nationally acclaimed
exhibit "The War Came by Train" will feature special artifacts,
including an exact reproduction of the overcoat Lincoln wore on the
night of his assassination made by Brooks Brothers, a hand-made scale
model of the Lincoln Funeral Car and Civil War veteran's ribbons and
uniforms in gallery exhibits that highlights the events of the year 1865
and the end of the War.

Courtney B. Wilson, Executive Director of the B&O Railroad Museum said

Maryland and will commemorate, in a very solemn manner, the arrival of
the Lincoln Funeral Train in Baltimore 150 years ago. It will be a

contemplative events."
