Save hallowed ground!
(May 17 – GETTYSBURG, PA) – Hallowed ground in Gettysburg is under threat of commercial development.
At 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Historic Daniel Lady Farm in Gettysburg, the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association will hold a news conference to state its firm opposition to the proposed commercial development project. It also will announce the launch of a national campaign to save the threatened property and protect the historic view-shed of the Gettysburg National Military Park.
The speaker will be Barbara Mowery, President of the GBPA.
the new threat is to land directly involved in the Battle of Gettysburg and its aftermath.
The Historic Daniel Lady Farm is located at 984 Hanover Road (Route 116) just east of Gettysburg.

Formed in 1959, the GBPA is the nation’s oldest Civil War battlefield preservation organization. President Dwight Eisenhower was an early member.
Over the decades, the GBPA secured hundreds of acres of privately-owned battlefield land that is now part of the Gettysburg National Military Park.
It currently owns and operates the Historic Daniel Lady Farm, including the fully-restored farmhouse and barn. The GBPA sponsors a Boy Scout Venture Crew that includes both boys and girls providing Civil War field music as the 1st Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Corps.
The Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association is a 501c3 nonprofit organization under the Internal Revenue Code and is registered as a charitable organization with the Pennsylvania Department of State, Bureau of Corporations and Charitable
