GENERAL: After crossing the Chattanooga you will please have your rear guard destroy the bridge (Schofield's); also destroy the bridge at Gaylesville, if the Fourteenth Corps has not done it already. I think it best for your entire command to cross Schofield's Chattanooga bridge, and not the one your pioneers built.

On Little River, Ala., October 28, 1864.In compliance with Special Field Orders, Numbers 146, extract IV, Department and Army of the Tennessee, dated on Little River, October 24, 1864, I hereby assume temporary command of the Seventeenth Army Corps.
Captain J. C. De Gress, Sixth Missouri Cavalry Volunteers; First Lieutenant Charles Christensen, Eighth Wisconsin infantry Volunteers; Second Lieutenant Luke O'Reilly, Thirty-THIRD Missouri Infantry Volunteers, are announced as acting aides-de-camp, and will be respected and obeyed accordingly.
The staff heretofore announced, together with existing orders and regulations, will remain unchanged.

On Little River, Ala., October 28, 1864.* * * *
III. In order to carry out Special Field Orders, Numbers 150, extract VII, Department and Army of the Tennessee, this command will move to-morrow morning in the following order:
Brigadier General M. D. Leggett, commanding THIRD DIVISION, will have the advance, and will move his command promptly at 6 o'clock, following the Army of the Ohio across the Chattanooga on the bridge by which it (the Army of the Ohio) crossed, and proceed via Cedartown across the Coosa to Vann's Valley.
The Fourth DIVISION, Brigadier General W. W. Belknap commanding, will follow the THIRD.
The Artillery Brigade, Major J. W. Powell commanding, will follow the Fourth DIVISION.
The First DIVISION, Brigadier General J. W. Sprague commanding, will follow the Artillery Brigade.
