QUARTERMASTER-GENERAL U. S. ARMY:

SIR: The Secretary of War directs that the supplies which were drawn from the depot at Forty Monroe for the U. S. troops in the State of North Carolina, prior to the annexation of that State to the Department of the South by General Orders, Numbers 7, shall continue to be drawn as heretofore. You will please give such instructions relative to requisitions and papers to be furnished the department commanders concerned as may be necessary for the proper administration of the affairs of your department in the new arrangement.

SIR: The Secretary of War directs that you repair without delay to Fort Monroe, to receive and provide for the prisoners of war taken at Fort Fisher, N. C. The Secretary gave verbal instructions that the enlisted men be sent to point Lookout and the commissioned officers to this city.
