MAJOR: I have the honor to report that I have assigned, subject to the approval of the major-general commanding the corps, Bvt. Brigadier General G. W. West, colonel Seventeenth Maine Volunteers, to the command of the Second Brigade of this division, during the temporary absence of Brigadier-General Pierce; also that Brigadier General R. de Trobriand, having returned from leave of absence, has resumed command of the First Brigade.
