General Hartranft has just reported to me that the Third Division is now on its return to its former position. I have therefore directed General Potter, commanding Second Division, to extend his line to the left, relieving the Engineer Brigade. As soon as Potter has relieved the brigade and occupied the line to Fort Howard I will notify you.
