April, 15, to obtain rations and forage to meet the expedition at Boyd's Hole. Do not send any of the Eight Illinois with Colonel Sweitzer. No artillery is needed.

GENERAL: The cavalry will be ready on Saturday for the expedition you mentioned to me. By a two days' march form here the cavalry can connect with the fleet in the river at Boyd's Hole, instead of Belle Plain. Rations for three days and forage for two days can be brought on the horses.
