I would respectfully recommend the following promotions, to wit: Brigadier and Bvt. Major General J. H. Wilson to be full major-general; Brigadier and Bvt. Major General Charles Griffin to be full major-general for gallantry and good conduct at the battle of Five Forks, April 2 [1], 1865. I would also recommend that Bvt. Brigadier General C. H. T. Collis, colonel One hundred and fourteenth Pennsylvania Volunteers, be breveted as major-general, and Colonel George C. Rogers, Fifteenth Illinois Volunteer Infantry, be brevetted a brigadier-general. These two latter officers, with their regiments, go out of service. General Emory having been recommended for full major-general, I would also recommend his promotion before leaving the service.
