COLONEL: During the night an advance of cavalry was made on my pickets on the plank road. This morning I find the cavalry in front on the plank road. During the night much noise and cutting of trees to the right of the plank road.
There is a very large swamp off to the right of the plank road. All the approaches to it from the south are covered.
The second Corps has not yet arrived at the crossing of the plank road and Racoon Ford road.
