GENERAL: In your letter of 7th instant, you state that the enemy removed from Winchester to Harper's Ferry tents, damaged ordnance, and other stores, while in a previous letter it was stated that Colonel Imboden had destroyed what he could not remove. I had hpoped that this was the case, and that nothing had been left on which enemy could make a boast of recapture. please state the facts more fully.
