XXI. Brigadier-General Iverson is relieved form duty with the army in the Department of Northern Virginia. He will repair to Atlanta, Ga., and report to Major-General Cobb.

XXII. Brigadier General W. m. Gardner is relieved from assignment in Special Orders, Numbers 223, Paragraph XXVI, and will proceed to Quincy, Fla., and assume command of Department of West Florida, lately held by Major-General Cobb.

GENERAL: The Sixtieth [Virginia] Regiment has been ordered back to the Narrows. So soon as you learn that it has arrived at that point, the major-general commanding directs that you can order the infantry battalion back to Lewisburg, and also recall the company of Dunn's battalion, now at the Narrows.

GENERAL: I have received your letter inclosing a communication from General Clingman, suggesting the probability of a force being sent from Charleston to attack Wilmington, and have written to General Beauregard requesting that, as far as may be practicable, without disturbing his plans of defense, he hold Clingman's brigade so repeated that on a call from you it may be thrown rapidly to Wilmington, and that, in the event of your making the requisition, it may be sent to your re-enforcement without delay.
