GENERAL: General Lee directs me to say that the head of Anderson's column has reached this point, and has been halted. General Stuart writes from the intersection of the Brock and plank roads that the enemy turned off at that point, taking the Brock road to the left toward Ely's Ford. When you are satisfied that the enemy have crossed the river and are too far in advance for you to overtake them, you will halt and send word back to Johnson to go on to Morton's Ford.
