SIR: The general commanding directs me to inform you that the has just received a very unintelligible message by signal, ordering him to move down secretly and quietly, leaving front as at present, &c.; also that special instructions were sent this 3.25 a.m. in cipher. The general desires that you send out a courier on road to Tracy City to hasten these orders, as they ought to be here now. the couriers bearing this will await the arrival of the dispatch.
