I. This brigade will be ready to move at daylight to-morrow morning, March 2, in heavy marching order. All baggage of the brigade will be taken if wagons can be procured in the morning. If not, a sufficient guard will be left until transportation can be procured.

1. The undersigned having been assigned to command of the District of Beaufort, including all the posts and U. S. forces in the Department of North Carolina north of and including Fort Macon, by Special Orders, Numbers 14, from headquarters Department of North Carolina, hereby assumed command.

2. The following officers of the staff are announced: Major Theodore Cox, asisstant adjutant-general; Major Tris. T. Dow, One hundred and twelfth Illinois Volunteers, acting assistant inspector-general; Captain Hobart Ford, One hundred and fourth Ohio Volunteers, aide-de-camp; Captain Edward E. Tracy, One hundred and fourth Ohio Volunteers, aide-de-camp.

3. Headquarters of the district will be in the field.
