II. Lieutenant S. H. M. Byers, Fifth Iowa Infantry, escpaed prisoner, is detaild as bearer of dispatches, and will proceed in the tub-toat now at the bridge to Wilmington and deliver his dispatches, thence to General Grant, at City point, and thence to Washington City, to report to the Commissary-General of Prisoners for instructions.

SPECIAL HEADQUARTERS DEPARTMENT AND FIELD ORDERS, ARMY OF THE TENNESSEE, Numbers 59.
Fayetteville, N. C., March 12, 1865.

In order to comply with the instructions contained in Special Field Orders, Numbers 28, from headquarters Military Division of the Missisippi, the Seventeenth Army Corps, Major General F. P. Blair commanding, will cross Cape Fear River to-morrow with all troops and trains, and moving out not more than two miles, take position with the left on Lock's Creek, and be ready to move forward via Beaman's Cross-Roads. The Fifteenth Army Corps, Major General John A. Logan commanding, will follow the Seventeenth Army Corps, and its crossing being competed on Tuesday, the 14th instant, and take position on the right of the Seventeenth Army Corps, ready to move forward via Owensville. These headquarters will move at 9 a. m. to-morrow, and be established on the other side of the river.

MAJOR: I respectfully report that I left camp at daylight this morning, and moved out on the Fayetteville road, strikign the Fourth Division of the corps at the crossing over Little Rockfish Creek. Halting here until 12 m., I obtained possession of the road and at once resumed my march, via Little Rockfish, to a point oin the main road within three miles of Fayetteville. I here encamped my division on the left of the road, facing toward the rear, connecting my righ ton the road with the Third Division. My headquarters are near the road, about a quarter of a mile in rear of my line.
