GENERAL: The major-general commanding directs that you hold your corps ready ready to take the offensive. He has just been informed by the general-in-chief that a general engagement this afternoon is not improbable.

GENERAL: The major-general commanding directs me to inform you that the Twentieth Corps will be moved to the rear of the Right Wing to-morrow. Your corps will probably follow the next day. He wishers you to conform to the position, as your corps will be on the left and rear of the army.
