Make adequate provision for cavalry to scout and watch the front of the Third Division at Jacinto-a battalion under a good commander., The company with Brigadier-General Davis, and the two accompanying Mitchell may be disposed of to the best advantage. But the rebel cavalry having returned this way, Mizner might come nearer Iuka, but upon the table lands. Davis' command should have cavalry at Iuka. They need there two companies more than they have, with those sent with Mitchell.

IX. In accordance with directions from Headquarters of the Army, Major General George Cadwalader is hereby relieved from duty in this district and will report in person without delay to Major General H. W. Halleck, General-in-Chief of the Army, at Washington, D. C.

X. Major General E. O. C. Ord is hereby assigned to the command of the post and garrison of Corinth, Miss., and will relieve Major-General Cadwalader.

Colonel Grierson, Sixth Illinois Cavalry, will detail a force of 150 good men, well mounted, armed, and equipped, and provided with three days' rations, for a scout, They will report at headquarters for instructions at 5 p.m. to-day.,

Major Kerr, commanding Eleventh Illinois Cavalry, will prepare 150 men ready to embark on board one or more steamboats for a scout of three days, provided in all respects for such service.
