there yesterday; have been five days in country toward Pocahontas and Salem; they heard nothing. Jackson's cavalry force scouts from here; have scoured the country along Hatchie west of here and find all quiet.

I don't think General Brayman's information reliable as to Jackson passing Saulsbury in this direction. All quiet toward Savannah and eastward. Good many report 300 cavalry east of Tennessee River, opposite Saltillo, yesterday evening.

Brigadier-General SULLIVAN:

Brigadier General Robert Looney, rebel cavalry officer, lately from Grenada, supposed to be organizing about 1,200 cavalry somewhere between Colliersville and Dancyville, and contemplates and attack upon this road; point not known. Thirty United States teams, 40 men, and 30 negroes captured at Raleigh, 9 miles from Memphis. Captain Burrow was in command of the rebel force that made the above capture.
