I have some 1,500 men armed and about 2,000 unarmed; also Colonel Jackson's regiment of cavalry and Colonel Stewart's twelve guns. I am in want of the Fourth and Eleventh Regiments of Louisiana troops, and three regiments more of good troops for partisan service along our northern border. I am in want of arms and I will send full particulars to-night by Colonel Augustin. General Villepigue is here commanding post. Answer.

COLONEL: The general commanding directs that you will remove all supplies from along the Mississippi Central Railroad to the following depots, as follows:

1. Tupelo............................10 days', always on hand.

2. Columbus..........................20 days', always on hand.

3. Macon.............................15 days', always on hand.

4. Gainsville.........................30 days', always on hand.

5. Demopolis......................... 5 days', always on hand.

6. Meridian.......................... 3 days', always on hand.

7. Enterprise........................ 2 days', always on hand.

8. Selma............................. 5 days', always on hand.

9. Montgomery........................20 days', always on hand.

Total...............................110

For 75,000 or 80,000 men.

He also directs that you have constantly on hand at Grenada ten day's supplies for 5,000 men, until the place shall have been abandoned by General Ruggles' command.
