Sixty-four boats passed Transylvania, which is 65 miles above here, at 11 o'clock last night. They ran with lights, at a rate of 18 miles an hour. There are now eighty-one boats between this and Lake Providence.

I have about 550 men. The pickets report 6,000 on shore between Milliken's Bend and Morancy's. They came down at 12 o'clock last night, moment after I had left the pickets.

GENERAL: My scouts have just returned, and report the enemy sa having crossed Yocona River with whole force. They are moving off on all the roads leading north and quite a large force moving west. The scouts passed thought all their encampments on this side of the river and represent them as being very extensive. Their route was up thought Paris and returned thought Water Valley.
