First Military District of this department, taken prisoners at New Orleans and new exchanged, will report without unnecessary delay to His Excellency Thomas O. Moore, Governor of the State of Louisiana-

having been suspended, is hereby revived and will be carried into immediate execution, exception in the cases of the following-named officers, who will continue to exercise to which they have been assigned until further orders, viz:

(1.) Colonel Ig. Szymanski, Chalmette Regiment.

(2.) Captain William Chapman, Chalmette Regiment.

(3.) First Lieutenant Thomas H. Marshall, Chamlette Regiment.

(4.) Second Lieutenant J. A. Chambers, Chamlette Regiment.

(5.) Lieutenant F. J. Ames, Beauregard Regiment.

COLONEL: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt to-day of Spacial Orders, Numbers 4, Headquarters Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana, dated Jackson, January 4, 1863.

I have to report that General Gregg's brigade left for Port Hudson yesterday and the before. I would further state that the battery of Parrott guns which I was ordered by the lieutenant-general commanding to send to Port Hudson left on the steamer Hodges yesterday.

From latest information I am satisfied the enemy's transports have gone up the river. Only seven gunboats between the mouth of the Yazoo River and Mulluken's Bend.

Vicksburg is daily growing stronger. We intend to hold it.
