SIR: It is reported that the rebel Colonel Forrest constructed a raft and made a raid on Island Numbers 63, last night.

You will embark your company on the S. B. Bertha at 11 a. m. and proceed to the island, where on arrival you will ascertain all the facts and co-operate with Captain Holibaugh. You will take such steps as the contingency demands, using a sound discretion, and return and report as soon as practicable.

Knoxville, Tenn., January 26, 1864.

I. Brigadier General H. M. Judah, U. S. Volunteers, having been assigned to the command of the Second Division of this corps, by paragraph 7 of Special Orders, Numbers 25, current series, from headquarters Department of the Ohio, and having reported at these headquarters for duty, will assume the command of that division, relieving Brigadier General M. D. Manson, U. S. Volunteers, who will report in person to these headquarters.

II. In accordance with paragraph 9, Department Special Orders, Numbers 25, current series, Lieutenant J. P. Denny, One hundredth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, is hereby detailed to take charge of those man belonging to the regiments and batteries belonging or temporarily attached to this corps which have re-enlisted and been furloughed as veteran volunteers, and who desire to re-enlist as such.

These men will be gathered together in squads, and upon being re-enlisted similar to that signed by the men of their respective regiments or batteries, will be sent to this commands to be furloughed.
