2. Major General J. M. Schofield, U. S. Volunteers, having been assigned by the President to the command of the Department and Army of the Ohio, will proceed without delay to Knoxville, Tenn., and relieve Major General J. G. Foster in said command.
3. Brigadier General George Crook, U. S. Volunteers, having been relieved from duty in the Department of the Cumberland and ordered by the General-in-Chief to report for duty to Brigadier-General Kelley, commanding Department of West Virginia, the quartermaster's department will furnish him necessary transportation for 1 horse and servant.

IV. Brigadier General Samuel D. Sturgis, commanding Cavalry Corps, will at once dismount one division of his command and turn over the horses for the use of the other divisions. He will then proceed with the dismounted men to Richmond, Mount Sterling, or such other Point in Kentucky as may be hereafter indicated. Upon arriving at such place all expedition will be used is remounting, equipping, and arming the command, assimilating their arms as far as possible. The command will be prepared to take the field at the earliest practicable moment.

IX. Paragraph IV, Special Orders, Numbers 24, current series, from these headquarters, and paragraph XXI, Special Orders, Numbers 29, same series, mandatory there of, are hereby so modified as to allows one 6-mule team and wagon for the use of each general hospital at Knoxville, Tenn.
