I. In compliance with orders from Brevet Major-General Wilson, I hereby assume temporarily the command of the Fifth Division, Cavalry Corps, Military Division of the Mississippi. All returns, reports, and other papers require by regulations and existing orders will be forwarded accordingly.

II. Lieutenant Colonel Abram Sharra, Eleventh Indiana Cavalry, will assume temporarily the command of the First Brigade, Fifth Division, Cavalry Corps, Military Division of the Mississippi, at once.

VII. Battery I, Fourth U. S. Artillery, having been transferee from this division, is hereby, in pursuance of orders from Brevet Major-General Wilson, relieved from duty at this post, and will proceed to Gravelly Springs, Ala., where Lieutenant F. G. Smith will report to Brevet Major-General Wilson for orders. The detachment of the Ninth Indiana Cavalry now at this place will go as escort to the battery.
