General BRECKINRIDGE:

General Burbridge's command retreated from Mooresburg to Bean's Station yesterday. The force is estimated 3.500. He take all horses, cattle, and hogs. My scouts annoy his pickets. I send the same to Vaughn.

General Hood directs that you will push forward, with all possible haste, the work of fortifying the hills in rear of your left upon which you are now working, that you may be in readiness, whenever called upon, to move with two of your divisions and one other division from another corps, with a battery to each these divisions, to prevent the enemy from re-enforcing Murfreesborough, or to capture the force now at Murfreesborough should it attempt to move off.
