Brigadier-General Lockwood, with his Eastern Shore (Maryland) brigade, left this morning for the Monocacy, where he will take command. In the meantime you will furnish the guard called for by the signal corps at Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Honorable SECRETARY OF WAR, Washington, D. C.:

Ten thousand infantry, 700 cavalry, and twenty-four pieces of artillery passed through Chambersburg yesterday. Two thousand infantry, with cavalry, were at Shippensburg this morning. The above reliable and true. Have a general order, published in Chambersburg by Ewell, 22nd instant, relative to provost-marshal, &c. Reports say that Ewell, with 20, 000 men and forty to sixty pieces of artillery, is between Hagerstown and Shippensburg.
