G. Foster, U. S. Volunteers. Until the arrival of Major-General Foster at these headquarters, Brigadier General George W. Getty, U. S. Volunteers, will perform the duties of department commander.

Get your command in readiness to move as soon as possible. Keep your pickets and scouts well out in the direction of Charlestown, Leetown, and Shepherdstown. You will march after the infantry corps have passed. Acknowledge the receipt of this, and advise me of your wants.
