Mobile was evacuated last night. Our troops are now moving into the city. The citizens are more than happy at our arrival and give us every information required. Will telegraph particulars in a few hours.

The major-general commanding desires that the men of this command be warned not to disturb people or property in or near Mobile. Many of the people are strongly Union, and troops will not be permitted to discriminate in treatment of citizens. That power will be exercised by the commanding general. No troops will be advanced beyond the outer line of works about Mobile without express authority form these headquarters. This order will be immediately read to the command.
