the steamer Matamoras for Milton to prevent any disturbance and to arrest all offenders. The men will take forty rounds of ammunition and two days' rations. Captain Rombauer, provost-marshal, will accompany the expedition, and take, in accordance with General Field Orders, No. 2, current series, Army and Division of West Mississippi, the statements of those applying for amnesty, subject to the further orders of the general commanding. Captain B. F. Porter, assistant quartermaster, will place the steamer Matamoras at the disposal of Colonel Woodman.

There is no use attempting to rebuild the road to Atlanta. A much cheaper and easier way for supplying the country where General Wilson is can be found from the sea-coast. It may not be necessary for us to keep troops in the interior.
