Fort Vancouver, Wash. Ter., June 17, 1861.

Company E, Ninth Infantry, under command of First Lieutenant H. B. Fleming, expected down on the steamer Julia this evening, will continue on and embark on the steamer Cortez, bound of San Francisco. Lieutenant Fleming on reaching the Cortez will report his command to the senior officer of the Army on that ship.

SIR: I have the honor my arrivl at this post yesterday with I Company, Fourth Infantry, having a total of fifty-two enlisted men, aggregate fifty-three, being twenty-one days out from Fort Mojave, N. Mex., and having marched eighteen days 387 miles. I have this day assumed command of this post, and relieved Brevet Major Armistead and his company (F, Sixth Infantry) from duty at this place.
