COLONELcommanding the district does not anticipate any event occurring amount the Nez Perce Indians to render it inexpedient for the command of Colonel Maury to march as provided in Special Orders, Numbers 56, from these headquarters, but you are authorized in such case, if the public service requires it, to detail it, reporting the reasons to these headquarters. Major Rinearson will accompany said command and will return with it to Fort Walla Walla next fall.
