COLONEL: Your report of the 15th instant was received and duly submitted to the colonel commanding the district, who approves your officia action in relation to the Hoopa Indians and their fortification on Trinity River. The colonel commanding directs you to inquire as to the truth of the report of a band of hostile Indians having attacked the settlement near Trinidad. If so, and there should be any reasonable prospect of finding the guilty band, you will on the arrival of Company K at Camp Curtis immediately dispatch it in pursuit of these Indians.
