WEAVERVILLE, September 16, 1863-11:30 a. m.

Governor L. STANFORD:

Property is being destroyed to a large amount, men being murdered and driven from their homes by the Indians on Trinity River. Nine have been killed within two days. Can we not get order by telegraph from General Wright to Colonel Whipple to station Trinity County Mountaineers in this county? It is important that something be done immediately.
