Fort Vancouver, Wash. Ter., March 24, 1865.

I. Brigadier General Benjamin Alvord, U. S. Volunteers, hereby relinquishes command of the District of Oregon, pursuant to General Orders, Numbers 15, form headquartrs Department of the Pacific.

II. Colonel R. F. Maury, First Oregon Cavalry, will assume command of the district. General Alvord cannot refrain from taking this opportunity to thank the troops-officers and men-for their valuable services under his command, and to congratulate them his successor is an oficer calculated in every way to maintain the honor of the Governement and to win the confidence of the troops.

III. Second Lieutenant W. I. Sanborn, First Washington Territory Infantry, is relieved from the duties of acting assistant adjutant-general, and will turn over the files of his office to such officer as Colonel Maury shall designate.

In obedience to General Orders, Numbers 14, headquarters District of Oregon, dated Fort Vancouver, Wash. Ter., March 24, 1865, the undersigned hereby assumes command of the District of Oregon. In performance of the duties incumbent upon the commander of this if as successful as the general whom he succeeds he will feel amply repaid for the anxieties and labor of his position. First Lieutenant F. B. White, adjutant First Oregon Cavalry, is announced as acting assistant adjutant-general.
