Commanding Department of the Gulf:GENERAL: All the enlisted men captured in this place have been paroled; all, excepting the sick and wounded and nurses in the hospital, have sent out of our lines. Forty officers left for New Orleans on the steamboat I. M. Brown at 3.30 p. m. to-day. The total number of enlisted men paroled is stated to be 5,935; the total number of officers (not paroled) is stated at 405; aggregate of prisoners taken, 6,340.

The quartermaster's department will furnish the necessary transportation.
