SIR: The general commanding division directs that as soon as you have debarked you proceed with your command to the Fourth-Mile Bridge, on the Baldwin Ferry road, and go into camp. Captain Carkener, of the staff, will be present to assist in selecting camping grounds for the brigade.

On my arrival here last night to meet Curtis your dispatch concerning new department reached me. Dodge asks that Connor's district be placed under his command, so that he can complete arrangements for Overland routes. Please answer to Saint Louis, where I shall go in the morning.
