7. The Thirty-sixth Regiment Iowa Infantry Volunteers is transferred from the First Brigade, First Division, Seventh Army Corps, to the First Brigade, Second Division, and will proceed without delay to Saint Charles, Ark., for duty at that post. The quartermaster's department will furnish transportation.

8. The Thirteenth Regiment Kansas Volunteers is relieved from the operations of paragraph 6, Special Orders, s Numbers 44, current series, and is transferred to the First Brigade, First Division, Seventh Army Corps, for duty. The commanding officer will report his regiment to Brigadier-General Salomon, commanding division, without delay.

I have to report that Major General C. C. Washburn arrived here yesterday with his staff. He has an order by telegraph from headquarters of the Army, of which the inclosed is a copy. * He assumes command of the District of West Tennessee to-morrow, under General Thomas. I do not see that I have anything to do but to remove my headquarters within the limits of my own department, but I await reply to my letter of the 20th ultimo.
