GENERAL: Two hundred and fifty infantry and seventy-five cavalry left on Rose Hambleton at 7 p. m. The object of the expedition is to destroy these guerrilla bands ad to capture the horses which were stampeded at Devall's Bluff on the 3rd instant. The officer in command will be governed by such information as he may receive from you, and will depend upon you for guides. General Salomon requests that you wills end out such a force and give such instructions as you think necessary to insure success.
