Lieutenant Rogers, commanding post at Fredericktown, reports that a train sent from Dallas to him loaded with commissary stores was captured early on Monday morning last near Bessville by the notorious Pete Smith and a gang of his men, sixteen or seventeen in number. They were in ambush, and when the train arrived opposite to where they were concealed they advanced with a revolver in each band and ordered the guard to surrender, which they did. They then stopped
