Dispatches form District of North Mississippi indicate a very much confused and unsatisfactory condition of affairs in my district. General Craig and Douglass are not successful in producing harmonious action between the volunteers and militia troops. The evil should be promptly corrected. I have the honor to request that if in the opinion of the general commanding my continued services ar required on this side of the Missouri River I be relieved from any further responsibility in the District of North Missouri.
