Commanding OFFICER OF HIS BRIGADE,
In the Field:SIR: Dispatches just received from Lieutenant-General Grant require me to continue the pursuit of Price to the Arkansas River. You will, therefore, proceed forthwith with your command to Cassville by the nearest and best route, reporting to me at that place. You will take with you all your transportation and all the supplies that you can collect.

SIR: Dispatches just received from Lieutenant-General Grant require me to continue the pursuit of Price to the Arkansas River. You will, therefore, proceed forthwith to Cassville by the nearest and best route, reporting to me with your command at that place. This countermands all orders received by you from Generals Rosecrans or Pleasonton concerning the retrograde movement.

As long as horses can stand on their feet they must be considered fit for duty.
