HDQRS. SECOND DIVISION, SEVENTH ARMY CORPS, Devall's Bluff, Ark., November 27, 1864-11 a. m.

Captain C. H. DYER,
Little Rock:

It is not going to be possible for me to make much progress on the new forts unless W. McE. Dye's brigade returns. The weather has been very bad for work. It looks very bad to see heavy works laid out and left unfinished.

C. C. ANDREWS,

Brigadier-General.

Lieutenant-Colonel MOORE,
Commanding Cavalry Depot:

COLONEL: As some of the troops are to leave this post, I have the honor to request that you will furnish the picket up to the Brownsville road, commencing to-morrow morning at 8.30 o'clock. 10.30 A. M.

P. S.-I shall want this detail this afternoon, say by 3 p. m., and daily at 8.30 a. m. hereafter.
