Henry C. Brown was arrested by order of General Heitzelman and committed to the Old Capitol Prison January 13, 1862. There are no papers on file in the Department of state showing on what charge he was arrested. Said Brown remained in custody at the Old Capitol February 15, 1862, when in conformity with the order of the War Department of the preceding day he was transeferred to the charge of that Department.

This man [Henry Simpson] was arrested by order of General Heitzelman and committed to Old Prison January 14, 1862. There are no papers on file in the Department of State remained in custody at Old Capitol Prison February 15, 1862, when in conformity with the order of the War Department of the preceding day he was transferred to the charge of that Department.

Thomas Craggs * was arrested January 14, 1862, by order of General Heitzelman and confined in the Old Capitol Prison. Several Union pickets had been foully murdered near Craggs' residence at Fairfax Court - House; and although the act was suppossed to have been committed by a band of guerrilla Rexas rengers still Craggs was believed to have been in daily communication with them. A release on parole of honor was tendered him specifying that he should not leave the District of Columbia without permission. This he declined giving as a reason that it would prevent him from visiting his home. The said Craggs remained in custody at the Old Capitol Prison February 15, 1862, when in conformity with the order of the War Department of the day previous he was transferred to the charge of that Department. (February 21, 1862, ordered released. February 22, 1862, released on parole and not to leave the District of Columbia.)

Richard H. Bayliss was arrested by order of General Heitzelman and committed to the Old Capitol Prison January 14, 1862. There is no evidence on file in the Department of State showing on what charges Bayliss was arrested. Said Richard H. Bayliss remained in custody at the Old Capitol Prison February 15, 1862, when in conformity with the order of the War Department of the preceding day he was transferred to the charge of that Department.

Bushord W. Bayliss was arrested by order of general Heitzelman and committed to the Old Capitol Prison January 14, 1862. There are no papers on file in the Department of State showing on what charge he was arrested. Said Bayliss remained in custody at the Old Capitol February 15, 1862, when in conformity with the order of the War Department of the preceding day he was transferred to the charge of that Department.

William Ward was arrested by order of General Heitzelman and committed to Old Capitol Prison January 15, 1862. There are no papers no file at the Department of State showing on what charges he was arrested. A letter from Ward shows that he was on parole not to leave the city and county of Baltimore January 20, 1862. Said Ward remained on parole February 15, 1862, when in conformity with the
