GENERAL: I now occupy our old breast-works with so far nothing but a skirmish line in my front. Prisoners report their force as having just left before they were taken. General Mott's skirmish line now connects with my line in the rifle-pits. Captain Driver tell me you want me to connect this front line with the second by intrechments. Am I to understand the line is to run from my left back to the second line?

The brigadier-general commanding division directs that the brigades be held in readiness for any emergency, as General Wright, Sixth Corps, expects to be attacked at any moment.
