Commanding Second Division, Eighteenth Army Corps:

GENERAL: The major-general commanding department telegraphs that a rebel deserter, claiming the rank of lieutenant, reports a mine nearly completed in the vicinity of the hare house. Major-General Ord, commanding corps, directs me to say that he supposes the deserter referred to is the same who came in last night, but he wishes you to keep the men in the vicinity on the alert for three-quarters of an hour after daylight to-morrow morning, and to continue you operations in the way of counter-mining.

GENERAL: The Third Division, General Wilson commanding, has been ordered to Washington, and one brigade of the Second Division has been ordered to the left of the army. the brigade of the Second Division now at Prince George Court-House will move to Zion Church. You will therefore connect your pickets with those of the Second Division at a point north of Zion Church, which will be indicated by my staff officer.
