I agree it is your right to go, but it is the duty of somebody to stay. The lieutenant-general particularly designed you this morning to me. I appreciate your wishes as a soldier. I wish we could all go, but the path of duty is not always along the road of inclination. Motives of personal friendship made me consent that you should stay.
